La ceremonia o gala de entrega de la edición número 72 de los premios Emmy se ha llevado a cabo de forma virtual por la pandemia de coronavirus o COVID-19, durante la madrugada de este domingo 20 al lunes 21 de septiembre de 2020. Ha sido presentada por Jimmy Kimmel.
Watchmen, de HBO, se ha llevado el premio a mejor miniserie, la extinta Schitt’s Creek se ha erigido como mejor comedia del año, y Succession ha sido considerado la mejor serie drama.
Como informó CEC SERIES en un doble listado exclusivo, Watchmen de HBO lideraba las nominaciones con 26 en total. The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel de Amazon ocupaba el segundo lugar con 20 asentimientos totales, seguida de Ozark de Netflix y Succession de HBO (que obtuvieron 18 cada una). La realidad ha sido muy distinta, como podréis observar en el listado, y Netflix es la gran derrotada de la noche de hoy.
HBO y Disney Plus dominaron en los Creative Arts Emmy Awards, que este año se entregado en cinco partes durante otras cinco noches, con The Mandalorian de Disney Plus y Watchmen de HBO llevándose 6 premios cada una.
Entre las sorpresas de la noche, destaca el premio a Zendaya como Mejor Actriz de Drama por su papel en Euphoria.
