"In My Darkest Hour" es una canción de Megadeth perteneciente a su tercer álbum "So Far, So Good... So What!" de 1988. El líder de la banda Dave Mustaine declaró que esta canción fue escrita en memoria del bajista de su ex-banda Metallica Cliff Burton, fallecido en septiembre de 1986.
El tema es un prodigio de sensibilidad, fuerza, técnica y lo tiene casi todo. Letrísticamente de es lo mejorcito que haya escrito Mustaine y además resalta el hecho de que es una canción sin un estribillo identificable como tal. Mustaine se deja la voz en cada estrofa y la mano en cada riff. La pieza te sumerge en un ambiente tétrico, triste; que te hace pensar y del que te cuesta recuperarte. No en vano el tema fue prohibido en la MTV porqué según alegaban incitaba al suicidio, pero a pesar de ello no tardó en convertirse pronto en uno de los mayores éxitos de la banda hasta la actualidad.

El resto del disco es bueno, aunque no llega al nivel de esta canción. En él no faltan los habituales riffs de guitarra del trash metal, aderezados con la típica voz de Mustaine. El álbum incluye una versión criticada por los puristas del "Anarchy in the U.K." de los Sex Pistols y otros temazos como el muy apocalíptico"Mary Jane". Megadeth pasó cinco meses grabando "So Far, So Good... So What!" debido a los constantes problemas de Mustaine con las drogas y las discusiones con el productor Paul Lani. Mustaine diría más tarde que "la producción del álbum fue horrible". Lani finalmente fue reemplazado por el reconocido productor Michael Wagener. Una vez superados todos los problemas, Megadeth lanzaba al mercado su tercer trabajo "So Far, So Good... So What! en enero del año 1988, que llegó rápidamente a disco de platino en Estados Unidos a pesar de las malas críticas iniciales.
